Tattoo Aftercare

Proper aftercare is essential for the longevity and vibrancy of your tattoo. Follow these steps: Leave the bandages on the tattoo for atleast 2 hours ( the skin seals in about 2 hours), Remove the Bandage carefully and wash over the tattoo gently with a mild soap (fragrance free and color), apply a thin coating of aquaphor(found at Fred meyers or Walgreens) to keep the tattoo from drying out too quickly. Use over 3-5 days once or twice daily. The skin should be soft but not sticky. After 3-5 days stop using the ointment and switch to a gentle lotion. The lotion should be cream based and not greasy so that it allows the tattoo to breathe. Before showering, apply a coat of ointment to create a barrier from the water and wash it off just before you get out. Gently blot the area dry. Wait 5 mins and repeat step 3. There will be crusting, flaking and most likely itching as part of the normal healing process. Gently slapping of the surrounding area should help the itching subside.
